Not too long ago a good friend of mine, Ali, and her fiance, Jared, went to a wedding expo and entered a contest through FOX CT, for a dream wedding. They submitted a video and were chosen out of 200 people to be included in the top 9. Ali and Jared then had to get people to vote for them on www.ctgetsmarried.com. Then the competition got even better when they made it to the top 3 ! The voting had to start all over. They designed, printed and passed out tons of flyers to get people to vote for them. Ali also posted daily on her Facebook wall reminding people to vote.
All of their work paid off when it was announced, on March 20th, 2012, live on Fox news CT, that they had, in fact, won!!!
The all-expenses-paid wedding was scheduled for April 13th, 2012. Yes, less than a month later!! The weeks that followed were jam packed with meetings, interviews, and photo shoots. Friends and fans were invited and encouraged to now vote on 1 of 3 of the couple’s choices of the menu at the reception, the cake design, the flowers, Ali’s hairstyle, Ali’s dress, and the couple’s rings (to see the winners go to http://www.ctnow.com/weddings/dreamwedding/, you can even watch a video of the ceremony there).

Most exciting for me is that Ali asked me to be her Maid of Honor! I was so…well…honored! Ali, myself and the 2 other bridesmaids (2 of Jared’s sisters, Michele and Jeanne) were treated to our dresses, tanning, hair, and makeup! After all, the wedding was being aired on live TV, so we all had to look our best!

It was certainly a wonderful experience for a well deserving couple. And certainly a very lucky Friday-the-13th!
Here are some more photos I took while there:
The place settings that Ali and Jared made, along with my bouquet and some amazing champagne!
Always my favorite part - the cake!!
The main course - Bloody Mary marinated steak, eggs, and a sweet potato & fennel home fries! Yum!
