Nesting

There’s a nest in the lilac bush in our backyard…

And a female cardinal calling it home…

Check back soon to see if any eggs appear.

Backyard Birdies

I’ve been trying to take advantage of the beautiful weather and get some fresh air into my lungs. I brought my camera out to the backyard with me and sat quietly by the pear tree, observing the birds and capturing their natural beauty.

Cheers to Spring!

Hearts of Glass

Happy February!

I have more Valentine’s inspired photos to share with you.

To obtain the colors in these photos I used sample gels on my speed light (samples are the perfect size) and a speed light soft box. I had the speed light behind the scrim; in this case a store bought table top set-up with 3 white “walls”, and a remote trigger on my camera to set off the speed light.

Aside from minor adjustments, these were not “photoshopped”, the colors were obtained through changes to the aperture and shutter speeds.

I used 1 red gel and 1 pink gel, and not together. It’s amazing what the camera sees!

Enjoy!

Sunrise heart

I absolutely love the shade of pink that this turned out to be!

Love potion?!

Another example of that pretty pink!

Conversation Heart Art

Love is in the aaaaiiirrr….well, Valentine’s Day is anyway.  In honor of the top candy selling holiday of the year (this is not fact, I haven’t done any research on the subject) I took some fun photos of those chalky, addictive, little witty hearts we all love (even if you don’t admit it)!

Enjoy!

Start with a cute heart-shaped dish on top of some pretty pink paper…

add some conversation hearts and let the fun begin…

Playing with food is fun!

Candy quilt?!

Hearts & flowers

By significantly dropping down the opacity I made a sweet and festive desktop wallpaper for myself!

They even look good on my iPhone!

I’m also considering using these images as Valentine’s Day cards. Would you buy them?
